Coronation Street star John Michie and agony aunt Dr Dr Miriam Stoppard are among celebrities supporting an appeal launched by children's charity Plan UK to help families recover from the East Africa crisis.

As long-term sponsors of children in Kenya, they are backing a campaign to recruit nearly 500 fellow sponsors to help the country recover from its worst drought in 60 years, and fund projects such as clinics, schools and irrigation systems.
